Global arts festival features music, dance and crafts

The annual Bartlett Arts Global Festival returns June 8-9.

The eighth annual event will be held Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jim Jensen Pavilion, 620 W. Stearns Road.

This is a free community event that celebrates cultural diversity and values ​​and aims to expand knowledge, encourage acceptance and promote unity.

This year’s festival will feature local groups performing culturally significant dances, playing unique instruments and singing traditional folk songs.

There will also be family-friendly lawn games, crafts and activities; stalls filled with a variety of goods and artists representing world cultures; and national foods and drinks

On Saturday, the show will open with national flags and distinguished guests at 11 a.m., followed by a performance by Grupo Folklorico Quetzal at 11:15 a.m. and Lisa Dance Academy at 12:15 p.m. By Kiera Moore will be at 12:45 p.m.

The Mambo All Stars Trio will perform at 1 p.m., HAKKA and the Bartlett Community Choir will perform at 2 p.m. Vest Dance Group from Germany, Brazil and India will perform at 2:30 p.m., and Guitarra Azul will perform at 4 p.m.

Craig Elliott’s set will open at 11 a.m. Sunday, followed by Trio Latino Mariachi at noon. At 1 p.m., there will be Academia de Danza Aztlan Dance – Mexico, and at 2 p.m., there will be Indian classical and folk dance by Devaki Janakiraman. At 2:30 p.m., enjoy Chicago Cossack Ukrainian and Roma folk music and dance. Marina Menconi will perform at 3:30 p.m. The American Folk Music Festival will conclude with A Train Jazz Combo at 4 p.m.
