The McCannidge Center for the Arts has announced its 2024-2025 performance series. “Kicking off the season with Proud Tina: ‘A Tribute to Tina Turner’*, we’re calling this season ‘simply the best,’” said MAC Director Diana Martinez. “We think audiences will agree with this star-studded lineup. As the name suggests – “Hairspray” director John Waters, Mandy Patinkin and Katherine Grody, Paula Poundstone, MOMIX as well as Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, among others, the season is now open for renewal subscribers and subscription sales to the public will begin on June 26th.
The MAC Performance Series season kicks off with a proud Tina: “A Tribute to Tina Turner”*, followed by the MAC Free Season Kickoff Party that evening (September 7) in the lobby. Paula Poundstone is a regular panelist on NPR. The successor to the political musical Capitol Fools.
Other highlights of the season include Scott Keo’s tribute to Michael Bublé (October 18), “A Conversation with Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody” (November 9-10), MOMIX’s dazzling dance, illusion and Whimsical work “ALICE” (February 2), charming YAMATO Japanese drummers (February 23) and a special screening of the film “Hairspray” with live commentary by director John Waters (March 16). The MAC season runs through May 4.
This season also includes two professional orchestras in residence – the Buffalo Theater Orchestra and the New Philharmonic Orchestra. As previously announced, Buffalo Theater Company kicks off the 2024-2025 season with “The Outsider,” a timely and hilarious model of modern American politics (press conference, Sept. 6); New Love The orchestra and guest pianist Winston Tsai kicked off the 2024-2025 season (October 5-6) with Ravel and Mahler. The concert also marks the 20th anniversary of the birth of maestro Kirk Muspratt, and in his honor, MAC will host a ticketed celebratory dinner following the October 6 matinee show.
In addition to these professional productions, the MAC will present more than 60 College of DuPage theater, music and dance performances and concerts.
