Get ready for a weekend of local art, music and food at the Northern Hospitality Festival, May 24-25 at the Knox Performance Center.

Musical guests include Grande Maul, Britt AM, Saltwater Hank, Kym Gouchie, Big Fancy, Reckless Burning and Danny Bell and His Disappointments.

During his residency at Danny Bell, the musician worked on developing new sounds for the accordion and writing new material in a cabin on Lake Nukko. These new songs will take center stage during the festival’s highlight event on Saturday night, giving attendees an unforgettable experience.

In addition to the cultural extravaganza, the festival will also feature vendors from the BC Food and Arts Festival, offering food lovers an array of tempting delicacies. The Prince George Potters Association will host the 48th Annual Great Northern Chili Cook-Off.

“This event is a unique blend of culinary and performing arts, bringing together local talent and community spirit,” said Executive Director Eli Klasner. “The Great Northern Chili Cook-off isn’t just about great chili; it’s about great chili.” It’s a celebration of our local potters who handcraft beautiful chili bowls which are eagerly collected by our supporters .

Twelve teams will compete for the title of best chili, with local politicians, celebrities and art lovers showcasing their best recipes. Attendees purchased handcrafted chili bowls to take home as souvenirs while enjoying a variety of chili products and voting for their favorite team. $25 per bowl.

“I had a great experience during this residency, with the opportunity to explore new technologies and being given dedicated space and time to write new material,” Bell said. “I’m excited to showcase the work I’ve been doing during my residency to the community. We played a lot of new songs at the Northern Hospitality Festival, and we performed with a group of talented friends. The Chili Cook-Off was the icing on the cake.
