Arts Alive is a monthly art-forward celebration held on the third Thursday of each month from 5-8pm (more or less) where local businesses, arts organizations and artists of all kinds do some free art and Interesting things to do in town.
This month, Arts Alive will take place on Thursday, May 16th.

Life on Earth Art Spring Artist Market
Prepare to be dazzled. Inside the magical interior of Life on Earth Art’s Copeland Street studio, many local artists will display their art and showcase their talents, celebrating creativity, connection and discovery.
“At the Artist Market, you’ll find unique treasures and one-of-a-kind creations to decorate your home or gift to a loved one,” reads the official description of the event, which will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. “Support by Local artists, you’re not just getting art, you’re investing in the heart and soul of our community and each artist receives 100% of the sale.
Sebastian St. James will perform and food and drinks will be provided.
Petroglyphs at Alchemia Gallery
Join Alchemia Gallery as they host community-favorite events: Inspiration Stone and Petroglyph Workshops. This free Art Alive workshop invites you into the Alchemia Gallery to paint inspiring words (or whatever you want) on riverside rocks to preserve or hide throughout downtown Petaluma. Paint pens, river rocks and many ideas will be available. welcome everybody. The gallery will also be open for browsing and purchasing art created by Alchemia’s many artists.
Jonny Hirschmugl’s pop-up art lounge
Rivetti Real Estate in Theater Square (140 Second Street) will host another “pop-up” art exhibition, featuring local artist Jonny Hirschmugl. The local real estate company’s downtown office showcases the work of local artists every month in conjunction with Arts Alive.
“Zach Hammer Trio” at Polycras Theater
Polly Klaas Community Theater will host a free, family-friendly concert featuring three different musical performances. Matchstick, a young original Sonoma County rock trio, will perform from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Former Five AM frontman Trent Yaconelli will perform from 7 to 7:45 p.m., and the Zach Hammer Trio will perform from 8 to 9 p.m. Wild cover songs” as well as original material. Polly Klaas Community Theater (417 West Main Street) Drinks on sale from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Collage workshop at Usher Gallery
Petaluma’s Arthur Gallery (1 Petaluma Blvd N.) invites those interested in collage to attend a special free Art Vitality workshop presented by Lulu Smith and Sophia Lavrov. They are the featured artists in Usher’s current exhibition, “Family and Friends: A Visual Exploration.” Stop by to create your own collage and you’ll walk away with a brand new piece of art. Supplies included.
