Coquitlam ArtsPlace will host back-to-back parties later this month for art fans and music lovers.

A Coquitlam arts center is hosting back-to-back parties for art fans and music lovers later this month.

On Friday, May 24, the Place des Arts will host a music/art mashup, an adults-only rave that blends crafts with live strings.

Participants will combine alcohol ink with news flowers and plants while listening to entertainment. Running time is 7pm-9pm, Maillardville Centre. Supplies will be included and the cash bar will be open.

For tickets for $26 per person or two tickets for $42 per person, visit Eventbrite.ca or call 604-664-1636.

Join three-time JUNO-nominated musician Jodi Proznick for a concert promoting her latest album on Saturday, May 25 Song of the Sun.

A Port Coquitlam resident, Proznik and her band (consisting of bassist Proznik, pianist Noah French-Nolan, tenor saxophonist Jon Bentley and vocalist Shruti Rama Ni) will perform her collection of jazz and pop songs.

In 2022, Proznik received the BC Lieutenant Governor’s Platinum Jubilee Arts and Music Award, as well as the Western Canada Music Awards’ Jazz Artist of the Year title.

Over the years, she has performed with Canadian music luminaries such as Bill Henderson, Laila Biali, Phil Dwyer and Guido Basso.

Her Ostara project with Amanda Tosoff highlights women in the Canadian jazz scene; a self-titled debut album from Coquitlam-based Grammy Award-winning label Cellar Live is also due out in 2022.

Tickets are $21/$16 and can be purchased through Eventbrite.ca or by calling Place des Arts.
