Outdoor activities at Liberty Station in the Arts District
No matter your age or expertise, there are plenty of options to choose from, ensuring there’s fun for everyone.
First Friday in the Arts District | July 5
On the first Friday of this month, you can watch various art exhibitions, seminars and other activities in the Arts District (ARTS DISTRICT). You can view the entire event line-up here, highlighted below:
Faces By Miche has just opened in the Arts District and welcomes the public to their grand opening party on Friday, July 5th from 4-8pm.
Faces by Miche is located in Studio 201 of Barracks 16. We believe art is a form of therapy and invite the public to come and visit and even create some magic of their own!
Robin Improv will host an evening filled with laughter and improvisation. Starting at 7pm, Lyrics & Laughs will be a family-friendly show with vocal performances setting the stage for an impromptu scene.
“Friday Night Flix” kicks off at 8:30 p.m. with guests improvising movie scenes, followed by “All Hands On Deck!,” an impromptu game show for mature audiences at 10 p.m.

Station Community Painting Day with Panca’s installation | July 13
Join us for a community painting day and lend a helping hand to superstar artist Paola Villaseñor, aka PANCA, as she completes her installation at Liberty Station in the Arts District.
On Saturday, July 13, from 1 to 4 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to experience art first-hand and add their own unique style to the vibrant mural that will become a permanent part of the Arts District’s Liberty Station.
Painters of all experience levels are welcome to visit and are encouraged to wear clothing they don’t mind getting a little paint on.
Bilingual Stories at the Museum of Visual Textile Arts | July 20
This July, join Visions Textile Arts Museum for bilingual story time. This month’s class will be held every third Saturday from May to September, Saturday, July 20, from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m., and will focus on the “Quilt Stories” story piecing in English and Spanish translations seam.
After the reading, visitors will be invited to create their own fabric collage. These monthly events allow community members to come together to celebrate cultural exchange, literacy and artistic expression. The event is free and open to the public, so be sure to attend.

Reading Heritage Story Time | July 20
Calling bibliophiles of all ages! Reading Legacies will be hosting a monthly family story time on Saturday 20th July from 3pm to 4pm on the first floor of Barracks 15.
Reading Legacy encourages reading with family and friends to promote supportive relationships. Attendees this month will also receive special coupons for the Joyride Bookstore. Storytime will be held on the third Saturday of each month until the end of the year.
Integrity and Arts District Liberty Station Market | July 21
Attention all shoppers: There’s a new market in town! Head to the North Promenade on Sunday 21st July from 12pm to 5pm to shop for merchandise and art from local artists.
As the latest collaboration between Good Faith and ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station, the market will provide a platform for local community artists, small businesses and vendors to showcase and sell their goods and services to a wider audience.
This collaborative initiative furthers their mission to provide a nurturing environment for artists to develop, express themselves and thrive, while also creating a safe space for learning and creativity.
Good Faith and the Arts District Liberty Station Market will return to the North Promenade on the third Sunday of each month in September.
Arts District Summer Music Series | July 28
Get ready for the return of the Arts District’s Summer Music Series every fourth Sunday of every month, June through September.
This year, in honor of Tijuana and the Holy Land being crowned World Design Capital for the first time, ARTS DISTRICT is pleased to focus on four bands that celebrate a variety of Latin American genres.
This month, Sonido de la Frontera will take the stage on Sunday, July 28th. spiritual culture and rebellion.
The Summer Music Series takes place on the North Promenade from 4 to 7 p.m. Attendees of all ages can bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the free concert on the lawn or dance and enjoy a refreshing beverage on Stone Brewing’s outdoor patio area.
201 Gallery Emerging Artists Exhibition | From now until August 17
To conclude her 18-month emerging artist residency program in the Art District, Leslye Villaseñor held a solo exhibition entitled “What the Wind Can’t Blow Away, Leaves on the Land” at Gallery 201, bringing her work to the Art District. The time reaches its climax.
In this final exhibition, Villasino presents a series of paintings that capture hidden objects and their surrounding landscapes.
The exhibit draws inspiration from objects found at Otay Valley Regional Park in south San Diego and highlights the treasured possessions left behind by the families of those who lost their lives in the park.
Each object carries a poignant story from the past, brought to life through Villaseñor’s evocative paintings. The final exhibition will be on display at Gallery 201 (2820 Roosevelt Road, 2nd Floor).
Summer Camp – Sign up now!
Milk oolong pottery: Learn potter’s wheel, carving, hand-making and surface decoration skills to create a variety of projects. Children’s Pottery Camp offers 4 different classes starting from 9am to 11am from June 10th to August 9th.
Mona Academy of Art: Embrace your inner artist with a half-day painting and mixed media art camp. Weekly summer camps run from June 10th to August 9th, with different themes each week, including ocean fun, cartoons, magical animals, fantasy and novels, etc.
San Diego Craft Collective: Children are welcome to enjoy fun and hands-on projects in specific areas of interest, including woodworking, playmaking, fiber arts, fashion design, sewing basics, and more. Weekly training camps begin on June 10th and run through August 16th.
San Diego Dance Theater: Hone your dance skills and learn from some of the best teachers in the area at SDDT’s annual summer seminar. The full-day seminar will be held July 8-19 from 9am to 6pm.
New Haven: Montessori-inspired preschool camp with classrooms and outdoor gardens. Training camp begins in July.
San Diego Creative Institute: Families and students ages 9+ are invited to sign up for ArtQuest Summer Camp’s creative sculpture (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), drawing (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and painting (4 p.m. to 7 p.m.) classes. Weekly admissions camps run from June 10th to August 10th.
san diego ballet school: Learn a variety of dance techniques taught by experienced teachers in ballet, pointe/pointe, jazz, character, modern, tap and progressive ballet technique (PBT). Weekly summer camps are held from July 8 to July 26 from 9:30 am to 3 pm.
New Tenant in Arts District | Now Open!
Next time you’re in the art district, give a warm welcome to Hawaii Fluid Art, which just opened at Barracks 15.
Dedicated to providing artists of all skill levels the opportunity to explore and acquire new artistic techniques in a semi-private setting, the new studio will offer a variety of experiences to the public.
Develop your skills in a variety of classes including fluid art, resin tumblers, resin beach scenes, glass painting, mosaic resin framing, hat repair, and more! Visitors are encouraged to stop by!
The Data Science Alliance, whose mission is to harness the power of data to improve society, is another new addition to Liberty Station in the Arts District.
The organization is eager to help nonprofits navigate the evolving technology landscape and help collect data responsibly. They just opened at 2675 Rosecrans Street. and eager to share their knowledge.
