Can’t-miss concert at Derry County Arts Center blends traditional music with jazz


Music lovers will be spoiled for choice this June, with two exciting live music events taking place at the Fraufield Arts Center in Portstewart and the Roy Valley Arts Center in Limavady.

Performances will showcase traditional Irish music and contemporary jazz, featuring well-known artists and exciting new works.

Irish traditional band Réalta will return to Roe Valley Arts Center on Friday 28th This June, following a sold-out performance in April last year. Their performance will premiere “The Leap”, a 15-minute love song dedicated to Limavady, co-written by Conor Lamb and Deirdre Galway. The new work will be presented in the form of the Crankie Box, an ancient storytelling format, with visuals created by artist Peter Crann.

The evening featured a live reading by local poet Anne McMaster, Jimmy O’Hara and musicians from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, supported by the Northern Ireland Arts Council’s Rural Engaged Arts Program performed.

Saturday 29th In June, the Flowerfield Arts Center will host the Phil Robson Organ Trio, consisting of guitarist Phil Robson, organist Ross Stanley and drummer Gene Calderazzo. They will perform selections from their critically acclaimed album

“The Cut Off Point” offers a fresh take on the organ/guitar trio jazz tradition. Phil Robson’s innovative guitar work, praised by The Telegraph and AllAboutJazz, promises a vibrant and engaging evening of jazz.
