Mackinac Island — With the help of a grant, the Mackinac Arts Council is planning several concerts celebrating the island’s international staff and residents, as well as a Music Trail experience.
According to the Arts Council, the International Staff Celebration Concert will include:
- June 6: Latin Celebration
- June 13: Jamaica Celebration
- September 5th: Eastern European Celebration
These concerts are held for island residents and employees.
On September 15, the Arts Council will also host a Music on the Trail experience for acoustic musicians on the Botanical Trail. This event is presented in partnership with Mackinac State Historic Park.
According to a press release from the Arts Council, these projects are designed to deepen relationships with Mackinac Island’s year-round residents and seasonal employees. Based on the results of the 2021 Staff Survey, the Arts Council identified the need to make arts and cultural programming more accessible to Islanders and staff by offering longer and after-hours activities.
