Maura McGrath has been a member of the National Concert Hall’s Board of Trustees since 2014 and Chair since 2016. RTE arrive National Health Commission,as well as National Health Commission itself began a major reconstruction program. She has also held board positions across all Irish sectors including the Public Appointments Service and UMPC Watford Clinic.
Róise Goan is currently artistic coordinator at the Kunstencentrum Vierniulvier in Ghent. She was previously Artistic Director of Artsadmin in London and, before that, Director of the Dublin Fringe Festival.
Dr Gary Glanville is Emeritus Professor of Education and former Interim Dean of the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. He served as Assistant Chief Executive of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment.
Brian Ó Gáibhín is Chief Operating Officer of the Áras Crónáin Cultural Center in Dublin. Previously he was a primary school teacher, TG4 Moderator, Head of Music Department, Chouiefat International School United Arab Emirates. He has chaired several boards, including the South Dublin County Tourism Board.
Gaby Smyth is a financial and tax advisor. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Temple Bar Gallery & Studio, Corn Exchange Theater Company and Dublin International Film Festival. He was the first President of the Irish National Opera and Chairman of Amnesty International Ireland and the Amnesty International Presidents Forum.
Richard Yarr is a music and arts producer British Broadcasting CorporationChairman of the Charles Wood Music Festival and Artistic Director of the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition. He also created British Broadcasting Corporation Northern Ireland Annual Schools Choir Competition.

Minister Catherine Martin also appointed Louise Donlon as new chairman Cultural Ireland Expert Advisory Committee.
Donlon previously served as an Arts Council member and Siamsa Tíre board member. She is the Executive Director of Lime Tree Theater and Belltable in Limerick and has been a member of the Irish Cultural Experts Advisory Committee since 2021. Donlon succeeds musician and broadcaster Kieran Hanrahan, who will hold the post until 2026.

dublin sound lab Announcing that the 2024 Music Trends Commission has been awarded to the Argentinian composer Lautaro Figueroa Balcarce. Figueroa Balcarce will receive a prize of €4,000 and will create a new work combining electronics and video projection, which will premiere at the 2025 Music Trends Festival.
Figueroa Balcarce is currently studying for a master’s degree in composition at the Academy of Arts in Bern, Switzerland, and has performed with groups such as Mivos Quartet and Ensemble Musikfabrik.
“Winning the Music Trends Council Award 2024/2025 fills me with immense joy and gratitude,” he said. “This is an extraordinary opportunity that allows me to further explore our increasingly complex relationship with technology, with a focus on digital and the interplay between physical reality. This exploration will culminate in the creation and premiere of new works for ensemble, electronics and video during the festival. this Center for Contemporary Music (Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) and Irish Chamber Choir (CCI) has announced the composer Bianca Gannon, Laura Heneghan and Caterina Schembri Has been selected for the 2024 Choral Sketch Program.
This program provides professional development in choral music composition under the direction of composer Lorna Clark. Participants will receive one-on-one coaching and group coaching, and will perform their choral “skits” at workshops ahead of a public workshop in September 2024. Based on feedback, the work will be developed into a complete work and produced by CCI Early 2025. Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.
Bianca Gannon is an interdisciplinary composer and improviser whose immersive, multi-sensory works incorporate Indonesian percussion. She has previously won King’s House Piano Committee, Improvisational Music Company and Continue Music prohibit bam and Pythian Composition Awards, as well as participating in the Improvisational Music Company’s 30/30 Artist Development Program.
Composer and pianist Laura Heneghan specializes in chamber and vocal music, and her works have appeared in U.K. and groups such as Ireland CCI, Gaia Duo, Con Anima Chamber Choir, Contempo Quartet and Irish Chamber Brass Orchestra, among others. She won the 2023 Seán Ó Riada composition competition.
Caterina Schembri is a Dublin-based Italian-Colombian composer and producer whose work explores harmonic and literary themes in acoustic and mixed ensembles. Schembri is a founding member of the international sound artist collective Sonic Gate Studios and Managing Director of the record label Ergodos. She is also currently attending Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose Emerging Composers Program.

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and music network DLR Musician-in-Residence announced for 2024. Now in its tenth year, the program has awarded residencies to two renowned musicians, percussionists Brian Fleming and violinist Jane Hackettas well as the work of an emerging musician, keyboardist Luke Dunford. These residencies, which run from June to November 2024, provide each musician with funding, dedicated workspace and mentorship to support their career development.
Fleming will develop new material and offer percussion workshops for people of all ages. On July 14, he will host the “Bodhrán for Beginners” and “Drumming around the World” courses, and will co-host a seminar with African drum master Mamady ‘Sakale’ Condé. Fleming will also perform with traditional band Amerghin on August 21 and present excerpts from a new solo show at dlr LexIcon on September 8.
Hackett, who specializes in classical and contemporary music, will begin a residency in late September, during which she will collaborate with composer George Higgs and deaf artist Leanne Quigley to develop a program for deaf audiences Interactive concert experience. Hackett’s work will be presented at a multi-sensory concert at dlr LexIcon on November 8th.
As part of the residency, Dublin-based jazz and funk keyboardist Dunford will collaborate with songwriter and composer Ciaran O’Malley to write new funk/soul songs for his band Chief Keegan. Their work will be on display at dlr LexIcon on July 10th.

Linden Theater and Clock Limerick announced irish music as a 2024 artist-in-residence. During the residency, Musici Ireland will continue to develop the family show slime, explores climate change and the environment for children aged ten to fourteen years old. The series will be developed with actors/writers Emma Finnegan and Jimmy Kavanagh and songwriter Sam Killian.
The team will also be based on multidisciplinary production mother’s voice, dedicated to the women affected by mother and baby homes in Ireland in the 1900s. The work premiered in Cork in January 2023 and has since been performed at the 2023 Rainy Days Festival in Luxembourg. Upcoming performances in Ireland, Germany and the United States in 2024.

Board of Directors Project Art Center Appointments announced Sophie Mottley As Art Director/CEO. She will begin her new role in August. Motley has over 15 years’ experience and was previously Artistic Director of The Everyman in Cork, where she developed artist development programs and community engagement programmes. Motley also serves as artistic director/CEO At the Pentabus Theater U.K. and served as co-artistic director of the Wilfred Theater and associate director of Rough Magic.
“Project is an organization that puts artists at the center of its existence,” Motley said. “I am honored to be one of these artists at the start of my career and I look forward to working with the team to support, develop and showcase the best contemporary work in Ireland and internationally. The project is a home for artists and contemporary excellence.
