Hurley Music and Arts Festival will offer “stunning acoustics in an outstanding setting”

A weekend of music and arts celebrations returns to Hurley this weekend.

The Hurley Music and Arts Festival is packed with entertainment to suit all tastes, including folk, jazz and classical music, art and cream tea.

The annual event follows a “hugely successful” Young Soloists Concert held at Hurley Chapel last October.

Event organizer Jonathan Miall said: “We are extremely lucky to have such a talented team of musicians and artists taking part in the festival. The musicians are looking forward to performing at Hurley Church and Monks Valley The Monks Barn, both venues offer stunning acoustics in outstanding surroundings.”

The festival schedule includes folk band Papa Truck playing original, native bluegrass music at the Monks Barn on Friday, May 3 at 7pm. Guests can expect “a perfect combination of great songwriting, harmonies and beautiful sounds.”

On Saturday 4 May at 11.30am, the Monks Barn will host an art exhibition and musical performances by local groups and the Royal College of Music’s Jazz Trio. Cream tea will be served.

At 7pm, another “tempting and not to be missed” Young Soloists concert returns to Hurley Chapel, featuring five talented young performers.

A festive Eucharist service will be held at Hurley Church on Sunday (May 5) at 11am to “celebrate the joy of art and music”. There will be special worship services, musical contributions and readings.

Later, the Tamesis Chamber Choir, known as “one of the best orchestras in Berkshire”, will sing at Hurley Church at 7pm.

Reverend Tom Etherton said he was “delighted” to host the festival in the parish of Birchets Green, adding: “Music and the arts can bring so much joy to our lives and benefit all ages and backgrounds people.

“I’m really looking forward to celebrating and enjoying the festival with the rest of the local community – everyone is welcome!”

The Hurley Music and Arts Festival takes place from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th May, more information and ticket bookings can be made at
