Chico — Chico has a variety of upcoming arts and entertainment-related events that you won’t want to miss.

Theater on the Ridge

Ridge Theater presents “Insertion.” The show will run from June 6-23. Showtimes are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Theater on the Ridge (3735 Neal Road, Paradise). Purchase tickets at totr.org.

“Insert” is a comedy written by Sarah Groustra and directed by Jerry Miller. Macy finally became an apprentice at the prestigious Red Key Press, with novelist Gilda Tarrington assigned as her mentor. But Tarrington has a secret: She’s actually the mind behind the famous pseudonym for the pornographic paperback empire, and she believes Macy could be her successor. Determined not to lose her first major writing opportunity, Maisie sets out to learn all about sex in a series of adventures.

Chico Arts Center

Chasing the art of Medusa with artist Kellen Dyer. The exhibition will be on view from June 1 to July 12 at the Chico Art Center. An opening reception will be held on Friday, June 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. The Chico Center for the Arts is located at 450 Orange Street in Chico. The Arts Center is open Tuesday to Friday 11:30 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm

1078 Gallery

Bowls For Gaza is a fundraiser to raise funds for humanitarian aid for currently displaced and hungry Palestinians, and will be held from June 7-14 at 1078 Gallery. A silent auction will be held June 13-14. The opening night reception will be held on Friday, June 14, from 6 to 8 p.m., and will include music by Donald Beaman. 1078 Gallery is located at 1710 Park Avenue.

Bowls for Gaza includes a silent auction of 25 different bowls made and donated by the greater Chico arts community. The bowls will be on display Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m.

The Silent Auction will begin at 7am on Thursday, June 13, 2024 and end at 7:30pm on Friday, June 14th

A reception will be held on Friday, June 14, from 6 to 8 p.m., with Donald Beaman performing music from his album “Fog on Mirror Glass.” Equipped Coffee will be hosting a bake sale.

All funds raised will be donated to World Central Kitchen.

Northern California Art Museum

Guitarist Andrew York will be celebrating at the Monca Museum of Northern California Art, 900 The Esplanade, on June 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 each, $5 for students with ID. The show is a tribute to York performed by Chico musicians.

Monka will host a yard art sale on June 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations will be closed until the museum opens on June 6. The auction will be held outdoors at 900 The Esplanade. Only clothing and electronics are not accepted. Tax exemption forms will be issued.

The exhibition “Roots and Routes: Latin American Perspectives” is on display in Monca until July 7. The museum is open Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm at 900 The Esplanade. Admission is $5, with students and children admitted free.

Monca will host a tea blending workshop on June 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $30. Monka is located at 900 Esplanade. Please register at https://www.lagominfusions.com/events/.

Friday night concert

Friday night concerts begin again on May 31st and run until August 30th. Rainbow City Park will perform on May 31st.

Duffy’s Tavern

The Pub Scouts perform traditional Irish music every Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Duffy’s Tavern, 337 Main St.

Paradise Art Center

The Paradise Art Center’s Members’ Show runs until June 7. The Art Center is at Paradise-art-center.com, 5564 Almond St.

pedal press

Pedal Press will host cyanotype workshops on May 25 from 11am to 1pm and June 1 from 11am to 1pm. The seminar is free.

Join Antonio in the cyanotype process. Expose prints on paper and fabric. Bring small objects or plants/flowers for exposure.
