Art, Music and Therapy: NAMI Baldwin County Mental Health Expo Returns

GCM Staff Report

The third annual Baldwin County Mental Health Expo is scheduled for Saturday, April 27.

The event, hosted by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Baldwin County, provides a platform for art, music and therapeutic activities aimed at promoting mental health. AltaPointe Health is a sponsor of NAMI Baldwin’s third annual Mental Health Expo.

A highlight of the event is a car decoration competition at 10:30am, where the best decorated vehicle will be chosen to raise awareness of mental illness and remove the stigma. In addition, there will be art projects for children and hands-on activities for adults.

Local talent from Baldwin and Mobile counties will have the opportunity to showcase their skills throughout the day, emphasizing the role of creativity in emotional and mental health.

Professional counseling groups and the Alabama Free Clinic will provide resources, including blood pressure checks and other important screenings. Therapy dogs will also be on hand to provide comfort to children and adults.
