A local band will headline an arts and music festival on the northwest coast.

British pop band Space from Liverpool will perform at the One Community Festival in New Brighton, Wirral on Saturday 13th July.

Their debut album, Spiders, was released in 1996 and included hits such as “Female of the Species.”

The event is the culmination of a week-long program of music, art, drama and comedy starting on Monday, July 8, and is part of the New Brighton Community Arts Festival.

“Show talent”

It is organized by partners including Wirral Council and Holy Family Catholic Multi-Academy Trust.

Festival organizers say the aim is to showcase the talent of young people, local artists and performers, as well as local venues and independent businesses.

Andy Moor, of Holy Family Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, said: “This is an opportunity to celebrate our local talent while coming together as a community.”

Organizers said the event on Saturday, July 13, which will close off Victoria Road, will also feature local bands including Belaruse, Headfeeder and Ambedo Blue.

Organizers say there will also be live street art, a children’s zone, street food and stalls.

Other events during the week include performances by community choirs and singing groups at The Floral Pavilion on Monday 8 July, a performance at Porto Theater in Ellesmere Port and a spoken word evening with local author Ashleigh Nugent.
