Tierra Whack, Moses Sumney, Lute and Helado Negro to headline CarolinaDaze Music and Arts Festival

This year Raleigh is hosting a new music festival hosted by talented Philadelphia rapper Tierra Whack. Nonpartisan grassroots organization Common Cause North Carolina has announced the CarolinaDaze Music and Arts Festival, which will feature an eclectic lineup of performances including experimental soul artist Moses Sumney, Charlotte native Dreamville rapper Lute, and Latin folk singer-songwriters and more. The first-year festival will take place on Saturday, September 14, at Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater, with plans to add local and statewide community leaders, nonprofits and other arts and music events in the coming weeks. The goal is to appeal to young voters in northern Carolina this election cycle.

“When it comes to this year’s election, I know young people like me feel a disconnect between what they believe in and what they have to offer,” Gino Nuzzoli, 26, campaign manager for Common Cause North Carolina and founder of CarolinaDaze Gino Nuzzolillo said. “We hope CarolinaDaze will be a love letter to North Carolina that resonates with our community and showcases the stories and people who are creating a future worth fighting for.”

According to an official press release, the festival’s activities will be “personalized to the needs of young people who may want to become more involved.” A portion of the festival’s proceeds will be donated to multiple organizations around the state, including the Campaign for Southern Equality, Carolina Immigration Network, Center for Racial Equity in Education, 7 Directions for Service, Carolina Abortion Fund and the HBCU Student Action League.

Festival headliner Tierra Whack returns to North Carolina for the first time since performing at Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill in 2019.
