Monsters, music, snakes a hit at Fourth of July festival


On July 4th this year, Marblehead was abuzz with activity and the streets were packed with people attending the 58th Annual Arts Festival.

Robert de Saint Phalle brought his family to the festival and waited in line for an hour for a St. Michael’s lobster lunch.

“We always come. It’s a tradition,” he said. “This is about our community.”

“We see people we know all the time,” added Zoe Culbertson across the table.

Eric Piatelli takes his two-year-old son Teddy to a street market. They were visiting the Cape Ann Spring Ponds team’s live snake exhibit.

“He loved it,” Eric said. “His mom was waiting in line for the balloon animals. We were going to the model ship regatta. We loved the festival. Everything was in the city center, closed and safe.
