MANCHESTER, Tenn. — Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival drew tens of thousands of fans to the 700-acre farm campground and concert venue this weekend, hosting more than 150 performances . Red Hot Chili Peppers, Post Malone and Pretty Lights headline this massive annual event.

Concertgoers enjoyed a hot, sunny weekend at the Bonnaroo venue, about 60 miles southeast of Nashville. The four-day annual music festival kicks off Thursday with live music on more than a dozen stages. Performances last from evening until early morning, including sunrise.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined the show until midnight on Saturday, playing some of their biggest hits, starting with “Can’t Stop.” Wearing an orthopedic boot on his left foot and a knee brace on his right leg, lead singer Anthony Kiedis invited the audience to join them for a “little after-party” at a local Waffle House, according to The Tennessean.

Other performers include Megan Thee Stallion, Cage The Elephant, Maggie Rogers, Melanie Martinez, Khruangbin, Fred Again, Cigarettes After Sex, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Diplo and Carly Rae Jepsen.

Bonnaroo made its debut on a rural farm in Tennessee more than two decades ago. Over the years it has had a diverse line-up, from Elton John and Jay Z to Paul McCartney, DeadMau5, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty (Tom Petty). It also has a 24-hour cinema, comedy club, beer festival and theater performances.

Bonnaroo has approximately 80,000 visitors each year. Some of this year’s shows will be available on Hulu.

With the heat index expected to approach triple digits, medical staff treated a variety of heat-related ailments while some revelers built elaborate canopy and tent combinations to provide shade; as demand for full-size bottles and aerosol cans restrictions, others had their sunscreen confiscated upon entry.
