Dorchester Arts Summer Music Program Announced

Dorchester Arts has announced five performances at the Corn Exchange during June and July.

The Summer of Music program will kick off on Thursday, June 20, at 11:30 a.m. with the Dorchester Piano Quartet playing the Brahms Piano Quartet in A major

The Sunset Café Band, starring local favorite Mike Denham, will play “1924: When Jazz Heats Up” at 7:30 p.m.

The seven-piece band will perform a range of popular jazz tunes from the 1920s.

On Saturday, June 29, The Unraveling Wilburys will perform songs from 1980s supergroup The Traveling Wilburys at 7:30 p.m.

The tribute band will also delve into the work of its members Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Jeff Linney

Moving into July, the Ashton Octet will perform on Thursday 11 July at 7.30pm.

They are a chamber orchestra made up of students from the Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama

The octet brings together the top talents of the school’s renowned woodwind chamber ensembles, including the Aeolian Winds, the Heide Clarinet Quartet and the Quintet, and is dedicated to showcasing the works of the wind octet, including Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances.

Finally, to wrap up the summer programme, Paul Higss will perform classic TV themes in a jazzy style on Friday 12 July at 7.30pm.

These include classics such as Spider-Man, Star Wars and The Pink Panther.
