Press Release: Strawberry Arts Festival combines food, live music and crafts in Westford

WESTFORD — Organizers of the Strawberry Arts Festival shared the following press release.

The 48th annual Strawberry Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, June 15, at Westford Town Common. Sponsored by First Parish Church United in Westford, this traditional event provides a day of fun for the whole family, including high-quality arts and crafts for purchase, a variety of food and homemade Strawberry Shortcake, as well as music and art performances by several local groups. Admission is free and everyone in Westford and beyond is welcome to join in the festivities.

The highlight of the day for many was the fresh strawberry shortcake served by FPCU members. More than 350 quarts of fresh strawberries, more than 1,200 portions of shortbread and plenty of fresh cream are mixed together to create more than 1,000 portions of delicious treats. Patrons can start lining up before noon to participate in what has become an annual ritual to start summer for many. A variety of grilled items are also available, including burgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers.

This year, the Strawberry Arts Festival features more than 80 artisans and is held on a triangular green space in Westford’s historic downtown. Artifacts on sale this year include handmade wood products, a variety of handcrafted jewelry, wrought iron, hand-painted glassware, terrariums, framed photos and portraits, and more. There will also be arts and crafts and entertainment for the children, as well as ongoing music by several local artists in the public spaces and on the Westford Public Bandstand. The rain date is Sunday, June 15th.

Free parking is available at First Parish Church United, JV Fletcher Library, Roudenbush Community Center and Abbot School. Proceeds will be donated to First Parish United Church, which supports a variety of local and international charitable organizations through its outreach programs.
