The Killers have announced a surprise intimate show in New York ahead of a tour of the UK and Ireland.
Brandon Flowers and his colleagues will take over the Bowery Ballroom, an iconic venue on Manhattan’s Lower East Side this Friday, June 7, with seating for 500 people. General ticket sales will begin tomorrow, June 6, at 10 a.m. local time. Please visit here to purchase tickets.
The announcement of the intimate show comes just days after The Killers will perform this year’s Governors Ball on Saturday (June 8) at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York.
The Killers will also kick off their Rebel Diamonds UK and Ireland tour next week. The tour kicks off on Wednesday (June 12) at Dublin’s 3Arena, where Flowers and collaborators will perform at 16 venues, including four nights at Manchester’s Co-Op Live and six nights at London’s The O2.
Later this year, they’ll return home to Las Vegas for an eight-night residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace to celebrate their debut album. Back in December, Flowers worked with New ME On the future of The Killers and confirming a new solo album.
Speaking about the band’s history, Flowers said, “We were no different than other Vegas bands at the time because I noticed there was competition and rivalry among local bands. I didn’t think of them—I thought of ‘White Stripes,” “Strokes,” and “Oasis.” I didn’t allow myself to go to U2 yet, but I asked myself, “What are these bands doing and why aren’t they staying in their hometowns?” That’s what set us apart early on.
He continued: “We are different and we are ambitious. Ambition may be an ugly thing to some people, but it serves us well. It’s a little unbelievable that we’ve been able to persevere .
In other news, the band’s iconic 2004 hit “Mr Brightside” recently officially broke a huge single record in the UK.
The now-legendary song has overtaken Oasis’ “Wonderwall” as the official UK number one single of all time, the Official Charts announced on 9 May.
