Music on Main’s ambitious, immersive “The Tempest Project” will premiere in theaters

Experience Shakespeare in a new and innovative way Tempest planMusic on Main’s musical and visual work inspired by the Bard’s storm.

Premiered at the Vancouver Theater in July, Tempest plan The audience is taken on a tour of the entire venue, with sound and light covering the entire building, including the corridors and backstage. The ambitious show has been five years in the making, led by Artistic Director David Pay and Artistic Planning and Operations Manager and Producer Shayna Goldberg.

“Shakespeare’s last play, storm, has been inspiring artists for over 400 years. It’s full of storms and magic, and its themes of revenge, forgiveness, power struggle and freedom are still relevant today,” Pei said in a statement. “We used these themes as inspiration for the musical scenes we set up throughout the theatre, where we will take a small group of audience members along different paths around the theatre. As they travel, they will see live performances, recordings from hidden speakers, projections , lighting, audio-visual illusions and more. The ultimate goal is to transport the audience into a ‘strange new world’ and challenge their definition of musical performance.

Sounds like something you have to see to fully understand. See you there then.
