CRE8IV Music and Arts Festival kicks off Friday in downtown Rockford

ROCKFORD, IL (WIFR) – Downtown Rockford is celebrating the fifth annual CRE8IV Mural Project all weekend long.

To celebrate five years of existence and more than fifty murals painted by local artists, the RACVB will host a free festival.

CRE8IV’s music and arts festival is scheduled to take place from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2.

The festival will be held near the intersection of First and East State Streets in downtown Rockford. Programs include live music, murals, local food trucks, creative interactive events, mural tours and more. Favorite artists and bands from across the country and locally will create new murals and perform on stage.

“When we launched CRE8IV in 2019, we envisioned Rockford as an art gallery filled with large, impressive, and impactful artworks—the city being the canvas. This year’s festival concluded with local and outside artists will create more than 50 murals. Their work transforms our community into a vibrant outdoor museum. “By creating impactful public art, we create a more engaging environment for our residents and visitors. empowering, creative and exciting communities and destinations. “

Parking is expected to be difficult on the east side. Many of the grounds are used as part of the festival and garages may remain. Parking west of the river and walking across the State St bridge is your best option.

Rockford Transit District (RMTD) trolleys stop approximately every 25 minutes.
