Music competition organized by Murree Arts Council


RAWALPINDI – The first edition of Punjabi Music Competition was held in Murree district under the auspices of Punjab Arts Council (PAC). More than 100 candidates aged between 14 and 30 years from Murree district participated in the contest. According to PAC spokesperson Rawalpindi, the performance of the young singers in the competition was highly appreciated by the jury. Assistant Commissioner Murree, Captain Abdul Wahab was the chief guest of the match, while PAC Directors Rawalpindi Sajjad Hussain, Anan Khalid, Mohammad Ashraf, Mohammad Su Lehmann and Ahmed Raza were also present at the event. While addressing the contestants, the chief guest praised the Murree contestants for their enthusiastic participation in the music event. He especially thanked the heads of educational institutions and parents for their strong support in encouraging children to participate in the competition. Murree Punjab Arts Council has always been committed to promoting art and culture in the province. The chief guest also expressed his appreciation to Murree Arts Council for successfully organizing this music competition. Arts Council Director Sajjad Hussain said that the platform of Punjab Arts Council plays a vital role in promoting classical music. The Arts Council keeps the art of classical music alive for new generations.

He also paid tribute to families from Punjab who have made important contributions in the field of classical music. These families have kept this art alive even in modern times. He added that talents who emerge from competitions held across the province shine on the world stage. Qurat-ul-Ain Shehzad, Sawera and Safiullah secured first, second and third positions respectively.

The jury consisting of Afzal Latifi, Nawazish Ali Hazrovi and Rubina Khanum analyzed the performance of the young singer. The top three winners received cash prizes of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Zonal competitions for Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree and Rawalpindi district level competition winners will be held on Thursday, May 30 at 1300 hours at Rawalpindi Arts Council.
