The Coriolis Music Festival returns this weekend with two days of chamber music, food and wine. This musical celebration is set against the picturesque backdrop of McLaren Vale’s Corioll Vineyards and is curated by Simon Cobcroft, cellist and artistic director of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. The 2024 program includes music from Australian opera baritone Samuel Dundas, pianist and author Anna Goldsworthy, Russian pianist Konstantin Shamray, ASO double bassist Jaan Pallandi, violinist Doretta Balkizas, Lyrebird Piano Trio and Orava Quartet. The Coriolis Music Festival takes place on May 18th and 19th.

The beautiful historic towns of Penola and Coonawarra in South Australia will come to life this weekend with the Penola-Coonawarra Arts Festival, celebrating the region’s rich literary, artistic and cultural heritage. Providing a platform for emerging and established creatives locally, nationally and internationally, the festival will host exhibitions, workshops and performances that you can watch while you sample some local produce or sip a glass or two of local Chardonnay. This year’s festival will also feature a number of awards, including the John Nelson Acquisition Arts Award, the Katherine Martin Literary Award and an open mic competition on Sunday. The festival will last until May 19th.

As part of Country Arts SA’s 2024 season, the Australian Chamber Orchestra will present An evening with the ACO collective quartet. The program takes the audience on a journey through the history of classical music, appreciating the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Joseph Haydn, Edward Elgar and Ludwig van Beethoven, covering Baroque, Classical, Romantic and the modern period.The plan also includes free tango By Argentinian tango composer Astor Piazzolla and rest with angels Works by contemporary Australian composer Ella Marsans—her first string quartet work. The concert will take place on the Chaffey Theater stage in Renmark on Tuesday 21 May and at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theater in Mount Gambier on 24 May.

Head to Festival Plaza this weekend for an authentic Raclette Igloo experience. This hearty, cheesy treat is a staple in French households during the cold winter months. Melted cheese is poured over a selection of deli and boiled potatoes for the perfect flavor combination of traditional raclette – delicious! Savor a glass of mulled wine or French champagne as you enjoy a sumptuous meal in your own private igloo. The Raclette Igloo experience runs until June 9th.

Next Tuesday, May 21, East End Cellars Norwood’s Winemaker Meet and Greet Dinner returns for a special evening. The exquisite evening was hosted by Gareth of Gentle Folk Wines, with Chef Tess preparing a three-course meal including smoked garlic vongole and grilled spatchcock. A selection of wines, including Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, will also be paired with your meal.
