The “Epic Music” concert is part of the April Fine Arts itinerary – News

The “Epic Music” night is just one of the highlights of the Campbell University Fine Arts Department’s April schedule.

On April 9, Campbell will present the 23rd annual Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Pops Concert called EPIC MUSIC. The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. at D. Rich’s Hobson Performance Center. According to Dr. Dwayne Wilson, chair of the Fine Arts Department, the evening will feature epic soundtracks from some of the highest-grossing movies in history, best-selling books, the most popular video games and Broadway hits.

“All the music will be powerful, haunting, dramatic and exciting,” Wilson said. “We like to think of it as a ‘panoramic music experience.'”

Music will include works such as “The Lord of the Rings,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “The Lion King,” “Frozen,” and “Halo.”

Wilson will serve as principal conductor for the performance, which will also feature Dr. Michael Phillips, Director of Athletic Bands, and Dr. William Beach, Campbell Adjunct Professor of Bass Brass.

In April, the Front Porch Music @ The FAB concert will return, scheduled for April 19 at 6 p.m. on the front steps of the Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Building. The Campbell Opera House will present an outdoor evening performance with Campbell Sounds.

The Drama Department will present Eric Coble’s adaptation of “The Giver” April 18-21 at the Ellis Theatre. Based on Louis Lowry’s Newbery Award-winning play, the series follows a young boy named Jonas as he learns the truth about life and hypocrisy in a utopian world.
